HOW we make our Hibiscus Liqueur

Doundrins Hibiscus Liqueur is made with high-quality dried hibiscus flowers that we mascertate directly in vodka along with a few dried spices. After masceration is done, we filter out the flowers and spices.


The color red, especially when extracted from plants directly like we do, is highly pH and light sensitive and we have seen over time that the color started bright red and quickly faded to orange and then pale yellow when exposed to sunlight. Although no flavor changed, this presented some issues in the retail space where customers thought it might have spoiled simply from the color change. Based on these issues, we have chosen to add a natural, plant-derived color to help address our retail partner's feedback. This is the only product we make that we add any coloring agents to, but we made an explicit decision to only use a natural color and sought substantial market feedback before making this decision.
