Doundrins Spicy Pepper Vodka is made and flavored with a freshly harvested blend of sweet and spicy peppers that come from an array of local farms all within 1 hour of the distillery. It has a strong pepper aroma and balanced flavor that is spicy, but not too spicy. The vegetal taste of the peppers and even the citrus notes of some of the chilis shines through. The combination of both sweet and spicy peppers gives it the heat you crave with the flavor you want. It is great in a bloody mary or as an addition to a margarita. If you are looking for a new way to get your spice on try it in our “Flaming Black Cherry” or “TKO”. The “TKO” is only 3 ingredients: lime juice, Doundrins Spicy Pepper Vodka, and lemon-lime soda.
Please note that we are actively transitioning all products across all markets from our black-and-white labels to our watercolor labels. You could receive either label in your order unless otherwise noted.
TASTING NOTES

Doundrins Distilling Spicy Pepper Vodka starts by procuring fresh produce from our local partners. Each farmer grows only certain peppers, so we end up working with 5-8 different farmers each season depending on what they grow and how their harvest has gone. This results in us using 8-15 different varieties of peppers, from sweet to spicy, in each batch. After we get all of the peppers to the distillery - usually by way of our minivan - we get to the tedious work. We cut the stems off of each and every single pepper, by hand. We then send them through a machine to dice them into small pieces to get the most flavor during extraction. The difficult part is spicy pepper days, because the dicing machine is so powerful that it also juices them a bit and aerosolizes the oils. Basically we make pepper spray and then have to stand in it and continue working. FUN! After dicing, we put the peppers directly into vodka to mascerate. The flavor comes only from fresh peppers, nothing else. After masceration is done, we filter out the peppers by using a wine press, where we press the fruit to extract every last bit of juice possible!
