We're looking for a few bartenders to join our team at Doundrins Distilling!
We're a little different from a traditional bar. Our bartenders do a little bit of everything during a shift, so we're looking for people who are friendly, dependable, can manage their time well, and are comfortable figuring out what needs to be done without someone constantly telling them what to do next.
Bartending experience is definitely a plus, but it is not required. We're happy to train the right person. More than anything, we need people who are comfortable talking to customers, can stay organized when we're busy, and take ownership of the bar while they're working.
Pay & Schedule
- $10/hour + tips
- We pool tips each day and split them among tipped staff based on hours worked
- Part-time, with anywhere from 1–4 shifts per week available depending on your availability and what you're looking for
- We're also open to someone who only wants to work occasionally — even as little as 2 shifts per month
- Shifts are generally 4–8 hours
- We close earlier than most bars — 11 PM is our latest closing time
- Must be able to stand and stay active throughout your shift
We're pretty flexible with how much or how little someone wants to work, so this can work well as a regular part-time job or as something you do a couple of times a month for some extra money.
What the Job Actually Looks Like
Making drinks is obviously a big part of the job, but it isn't the whole job.
Our bartenders are responsible for managing the tasting room during their shifts. There are a lot of little things that need to happen throughout the day, and good time and task management are really important.
You'll be responsible for things like:
- Making cocktails and serving customers
- Talking with customers and helping create an atmosphere that makes people want to come back
- Washing and putting away glassware and dishes throughout your shift
- Keeping the bar, tasting room and retail areas clean and organized
- Restocking the bar and keeping track of what you're running low on
- Handling bottle and merchandise sales
- Preparing our food menu when we don't have separate kitchen staff scheduled
- Completing opening and/or closing responsibilities
- Keeping up with all of the smaller tasks that come with running the bar throughout the day
Our food menu is simple. Everything is pre-made and prepared using pizza ovens and air fryers, so we're not expecting our bartenders to also be restaurant cooks.
The Cocktails
Our drinks are on the craftier side, so there is more involved than pouring liquor and mixer into a glass.
You'll be making drinks from recipes that can include muddling fresh fruit, measuring spirits, syrups and other ingredients with jiggers, and finishing drinks with the correct garnishes.
You don't need to already know how to do all of that. We'll teach you our recipes and how we make our drinks. What we need from you is a willingness to learn them and consistently make them the way they're supposed to be made.
Customer Service Is a BIG Part of This Job
This is probably the biggest thing we're looking for.
When you're behind the bar, you are the face of Doundrins. We want bartenders who actually enjoy talking to people.
That doesn't mean you need to be the loudest or most outgoing person in the room, but you should be comfortable starting conversations, answering questions, talking about our spirits and cocktails, and getting to know regulars.
People might come in the first time because they saw an event or an ad. We want them to come back because they had a great time — and a lot of that comes down to the person behind the bar.
What We're Looking For
You'd probably be a good fit if you:
- Genuinely enjoy interacting with customers
- Are dependable and show up when you're scheduled
- Can manage your own time and stay productive without constant direction
- Notice when something needs to be cleaned, stocked or taken care of and just do it
- Can handle several things happening at once without getting overwhelmed
- Can stay organized and work quickly when the bar gets busy
- Are willing to learn our cocktails, spirits and how we do things
- Are comfortable working independently at times while also being part of a team
Previous bartending or service-industry experience is a plus, but isn't required. We'd rather hire someone with the right personality and work ethic and teach them how to bartend than hire someone with years of experience who doesn't enjoy interacting with customers.
Employee Perks
- One complimentary cocktail each shift
- One complimentary bottle of any Doundrins spirits each month
- 25% off cocktails, bottles and merchandise
- Free admission to all non-workshop events
- And, of course, you get to work at a distillery, which is a little more interesting than your average part-time job.

Send your resume along with your general availability to admin@doundrins.com.
It doesn't need to be anything fancy — we'd mostly like to know a little about you, what your availability looks like, and why you think you'd be a good fit behind our bar.
